Moroni: Symbol of Freedom

To Latter-day Saints, the personage of Moroni, a 4th Century AD Prophet of God in the Western Hemisphere, and the last Nephite left alive after his nation was annihilated, is well known. He was named by his father, Mormon, after a righteous General of the Armies who lived four centuries earlier. This Captain Moroni, when faced with an unrighteous political take-over of the government, "rent his coat and took a piece and wrote upon it: In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children, and fastened it upon the end of a pole and called it the title of liberty, and caused this title of liberty (flag) to be hoisted upon every tower which was in all the land which was possessed by the Nephites; and thus Moroni planted the standard of liberty among the Nephites." (Alma 1012-13; 13:36) This Title of Liberty flag is much like the flag of the United States, which stands for liberty and justice and freedom, and is the reason we have chosen our logo for this blog.

WHO WE ARE: This is a privately owned and operated blog site. It is not sponsored by, nor connected in any way, to any church, religious affiliation, or to any State or National Political Party, including either the Republican Party or Democratic Party, or to any PAC Group, or governmental agency. As a privately owned blog, we rely solely on donations and sponsorships for our continued presence on the Web.

RELIGIOUS INTERESTS: As a private blog site, our interest is in showing a political viewpoint of current issues as they are viewed from a Mormon's perspective. Since there is so much misinformation and disinformation on the Web as well as in people's minds about the standards of Latter-day Saint people, this blog site is dedicated to stating political and social current issues as viewed by a few private citizens who write and edit this site. It is not intended in any way to state or represent any official church or religious affiliation but merely to promote our individual understanding and knowledge of the issues at hand.

CONSERVATIVE BASIS: We make no apologies for the conservative views stated in this blog. Our foundation is that of a patriotic heritage handed down to us by our forefathers. We believe that the Constitution of these United States was inspired by God, who raised up those men whom we call our Founding Fathers today, to form this Union under His direction. As such, we believe in the primacy of the United States and its very important role in world affairs. We feel and believe that the defense of freedom on this planet, which is God's will that all mankind be free to choose their path in life, is one of the main purposes of the establishment of America and its past, current and future role--to help insure freedom to this Nation, and to all nations of the earth who choose to live under the freedoms a government can insure. Consequently, the format of this blog is to promote conservative ideals, the freedom of all mankind, and the God-given rights to defend that freedom in word and action. We intend to expose and impinge those people who work against the best interests of this Constitution, the rights God has provided us, and the freedoms that are ours.

WE COULDN'T AGREE MORE: "Human freedom is intrinsically linked to social justice. A true Catholic humanism would be woefully inadequate if it passively accepted conditions that put stumbling blocks in the path of persons making reasonable choices about the moral life or that diminished their power to choose the good. Peter Maurin, one of the founders of the Catholic Worker Movement, once said he struggled for a world in which it was easy for a person to be good. The prophetic voice calls others to resist those forces that degrade human dignity, confine people to the struggle for mere survival and diminish their capacity to enjoy the good things of this world. The bombardment of propaganda that overwhelms people with pornography or false promises of rewards for greed, or those socio-political systems which take away basic rights all militate against human freedom and weaken the will to choose good. Therefore, all the energies of the church to preach the Gospel and to live out its message are, at the most ideal level, an effort to hold out a basic truth: There is freedom in Christ. The Catholic tradition carries within it a message of freedom succinctly expressed in a single line in the Gospel: "If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth and the truth will make you free" (John 8:31-32).
